The flooding problems in Bethel Park should be the most important issue to all residents. It is no longer just some peoples problem. With the new 2019 tax increase to everyone in Bethel Park because of this issue, it is now everyone's problem. This is not a new problem, it has been happening for at least 60 years. Council keeps saying that the June flood has cost this community about 1 million dollars. Pretty soon flooding could be the largest expense in this communities budget. Nobody is going to stop the rain, but we can correct & prepare for the next time to make it less costly. It will continue to be everyone's problem until the Bethel Park council stops sticking their head in the sand & does whatever it takes to correct the problems that past administrations have created. How many engineering companies & suggested solutions do we the tax payers need to pay for before they actually do something? It will only get worse & more costly if nothing is done now. I keep hearing "Where do we start, who's problem is first". I think this is just an excuse to do nothing. If you never start, nothing will ever get done. We almost had a young man in our community drowned in the June 2018 flooding. Hopefully the next person, the next time will be just as lucky. Yes, this will keep happening until something is done. Just ask yourself one question - If there is not a plan of action on this, how did the council come up with a number on what they needed as a tax increase? Maybe it will be more next year? How do you think that will effect property values.

Thankyou Rich, my family bought here in 1967.. great area, good schools great quiet road with Pudlak farm with cattle , barns and a large pond directly across where gatewood is now..Our first flood was due to the homes being built on gatewood, which the contractor buried the natural spring fed pond. it came off the hill behind which was the Coslows house where Rich Pahler lives .the damage was great and Bethels response at that time was our houses didnt have new lines..to handle the water.. no Bethel allowed someone to build homes adding to lines not large enough and covered a spring fed pond..where do u think all that water was going to go.? The line from Gatewood to the main which runs to the creek is not adequate the line hits the creek and cant go anywhere since there has been so much building at Industrisl blvd.. and now we have had new homes added to the bend on Logan. My house and many houses on Logan are not considered in a flood zone. Our insurance companies do not cover municipality storm and sewer problems. Most of the residents on Logan have paid for their flooing on their own.I have had people in to tell me my house is below the water table, I am the lowest house on the down flow. So I am pretty much stuck..Logan creek is being inudated with sewage I have videos...the state increased the width and depth of the creek..but when you have storm and sewer lines not adequate what can you expect. Alleg health board has fined Bethel but its cheaper to pay fines.. I am sorry people who were flooded in June of 2018.. I had a river to in front of my house and damage also, but we have had this problem forever and we are put on the dont talk or tell anyone about this from your boro management...so Bethel wants to use your tax dollars to do a flood accessment which according to your boro management was a 100 year event..maybe in other areas of Bethel , but here on Logan we have sewer and storm issues even in minor rains...so what is the solution? MAN UP Bethel boro...dont waste tax money fix your lines..boro residents you need to pay attention and dont let Bethel fool you into believing they are going to do all they can, its a huge cost issue and is going to get worse.
